my girlfriends phone got a text at 2.30 in the morning not long ago from some guy from her past,i confronted her about this and she swears his name isnt in her phonebook, i did check myself and it wasnt there,how is this possible is she cheating and storing it somewhere else?

This will be because the number is still saved under the sim contacts on the phone. you could delete it for good, by going into the menu > contacts > options > sim contacts and scroll down to the name via there, this may vary though on different models and handsets. Hope it helps.

no luck bud had a look at that and there is nothing on the sim card, it happens on my phone when i get a text with offers for the gym (that number has never been in my phone) could it be something like that?

Erm the only other thing i can think of is that she may have contacts saved to her memory card, and not realised they are there, sometimes people back them up to the memory card to keep them safe, and the phone will revert to that aswell as the contact list, should a text come thru, worth having a look.
