But thats not the point, whether others would or not, the fact is he cheated and should of owed up in this important match but he didnt.
Now in years when people mention henry, they will say..or henry that cheat, and wont be saying or henry that great footballer.

Its gone way beyond bad decisions and mistakes mate..its happening every week.
This as become a sport where cheating is allowed and refs arent good enough for whatever reason that is, you have a look at other sports, theres no cheating no bad decisions.. the only other one similar in that its played on pitches is rugby and they use a video referee that the ref can call upon then get a message through a microphone, why not do this for football.... move on with the times.

I just believe in some cases there should be replays, this was one, it was an important world cup game not a weekly league game for points, this was for a place at the world cup and some of these players arent going because of a cheat an will never get the chance again to go to the world cup.Fifas logo is fair play... fair play my arse

But its gone now, i just kind of hope something bad happens in the world cup just to embarress fifa for not doing anything.

Very few players in Henry's position would rise his hands and say "hey ref, it was hand ball, take the goal back".

Maybe not very few but no one. What happened in St Dennis is not justifiable but what percentage of all the world players would do the same in a similar situation? The refs sometimes make bad decisions and mistakes. This is an inherent part of this sport, at least for now. How bad is that? that's another matter, but it's true. This is the real life, don't you want mistakes and deceptions? Go play some Playstation...

I'm not supporting cheating but putting the finger on the sore spot. Definitely something must be done to prevent things like this, but what must not be permitted is the corruption and the indifference around it.

In my opinion the refs are the real responsibles, they should know that the players would do everything to win and must be prepared to detect and face these plays.

It was so obvious they wouldn't replay the match. Btw what'd happened if during the "replay match" a similar play takes place in favour of Ireland? Would the French request a re-replay of the match? They would need robot prototypes and not human refs.

@lazyitus i dont think it will happen, in my opinion this is no longer a sport.. laugh at that all you want but if cheating is allowed then its no longer a sport is it, its all about money and what fifa want,
They fixed the playoffs by adding seeds so portugal and france would both go through. They say f.. all about the henry incident just the refs decision is final so i guess henry wont even get a ban.theres alot wrong with this once beautiful game, just look at other sports they dont have these problems and people laugh at football because its in such a state.

Losing faith in football now... ill try following golf i think

"I have said at the time and I will say again that yes I handled the ball. I am not a cheat and never have been. It was an instinctive reaction to a ball that was coming extremely fast in a crowded penalty area," he said.

This makes me mad, its like a thief in court denying it.
YES YOUR A CHEAT, you knew you handled the ball on purpose, first time maybe it was your reflexes but the second time am a blind man if you didnt touch that ball knowing what you was doing.
The main reason your a cheat though mr henry is cause you ran away celebrating a goal you knew was WRONG.
you had 5secs to decide be apart of the immortals or join the maradonas of this world, and you chouse the latter.
If you arent a cheat you would of gone up to to the ref and owed up but instead you celebrated like it was right.
So dont come out saying bullshit.
You was a bad captain of arsenal and your a bad captain of france bye bye to your once good football career... will always be known as that CHEAT that cheated france to the 2010 world cup.

At least video replays for refs is gonna be fast tracked now(it was cheating by henry but the ref obviously couldn't see it-but i am surprised neither of the linesmen saw it-so the only way to avoid that would be to see it at a different angle via video replay).

A replay wont happen fifa have said, refs decision.
What do these guys at fifa actually do?..drink tea and eat cakes?
Its clearly an handball and a cheat, a team is going to world cup because of it.
    Is that fair?
Am shocked at how weak fifa or, henry admitted cheating saying its not his fault the ref didnt see it, so its ok to cheat if you dont get caught is it?
If the french were decent people they would come out admit it was wrong
    And agree a replay.

I know that's an embarrassment in all aspects, I feel really bad for the Irish, if my team were the victim of a situation like that we surely would kill the responsibles. But that doesn't change my preferences about both teams because I'm not Irish or French.

Henry, the referee, or Fifa, or whoever is the responsible, should not make a whole country to feel guilty of what happenned, that's not fair either, so many French are angry about that.

But what should Fifa do? Even the worst punishment to Henry won't give Ireland a chance to play the WC. And what about the referee, the French Federation, Uefa or Fifa, a punishment to him wouldn't affect them in the least assuming they are behind this or have some participation of course.

Replay the game? That's unlikely, you can't go around playing matches again everytime there is a play like this. In that case you should replay the entire qualifying tournament if a team consider was affected in several matches. But the pressure against Fifa is quite big.

Anyway I hope fair play would prevail, in that we all agree.

So you prefir a CHEAT and a team going to the world cup by CHEATING do you Raul?

This is what Former France international David Ginola said...

"I'm very embarrassed by the situation. I don't feel very proud to be French this morning. The Irish played very well and they deserved to go through as much as France, maybe more. I'm very surprised Fifa haven't mentioned anything about it - the whole world saw the handball. This is a pure injustice. Everyone in France, the press and everyone, says there should be a replay."

can you imagine if it was ireland that did that?.. id bet all the money in the world id put my house on it there be a replay .... why....because PLATINI IS FRENCH! he wouldnt allow his france going out like that.

I cant believe someone so respected in the game like henry as done that an cheated, its as bad as maradonas in 86
He knew what he was doing.
This cheat is going to the world cup in place of some of the irish players that worked so hard and will probably never get another chance now.

Only justice is a replay at a neutral venue.
Theres no excuse for this, how can fifa say it was a mistake and let this happen? this is suppose to be world cup, once every 4 years.

This sport is in danger of no longer being one.
Its not the beautiful game anymore, its the ugly ugly game, players on thousands a week cheating and its becoming allowed because nothing is being done about it.

I know the result wasn't fair, but I prefer France in the WC to Ireland
