Tutorial: How To Translate Games

[Chris]

What we need in order to translate:

-WinRAR
-Notepad
-MobiTrans(you can download it here:http://www.4shared.com/file/69013284/e1e8d200/MobiTrans.html)


First of all,the java games always are with the extension .jar
Using WinRAR we extract the jar file into a folder and now we can see all of the .class files and the other game files.
Now,there are many ways game companies save the language files and the most common ways are:they create a "lang" file that contains all the language files,or they save them as .txt

Step 1

1st case(Lang folder that contains archive files)
We find the lang file and we open it.
Inside we can see some archives with names like:"0","a","b" etc.
Using the notepad we open the first one the file "0".
We will see some languages such as "English","Espanol" etc.
We change the name(for example "Espanol").

If English is in 3rd line,that means that the English language file is the file "c" in the lang folder.So we find it and open it.Then we just have to translate all the words that are inside this file.That's an example(we try to translate english to spanish):

2nd case(Lang folder that contains lang files)
In that case,inside the lang folder we can see some lang files.For example,the english language file is the file gb.lang

Then we right-click the lang file we want to translate and we clic at "View File".We just have to translate all the words that are in this file the same way as in 1st case.


Step 2


We open Mobitrans and then we open the lang file we want to translate:

Then we get this:

We just click to each of the line and translate it to the language we want:

We repeat this for all lines until they are all translated.
After that we click at the save button and then ok(we don't care about the other options that there are).
Then we return to the directory where we had decompressed the jar file and we can see that many files are created.
From there we change the name (for example:)of the class "e.class" to "e.class.bac" and the file that MobiTrans named "e.class.ru" we rename it to "e. class "and do the same process with any other file type that we have
translated with the program.


Step 3



We open the original application and we go to the directory where the original lang file is and we gar and drop the file we just translated.we click at ok or if the WinRAR asks you to replace the file just say yes and then we do the same process for each of the files that we have translated.
Once we are done,we are ready to install the game to a mobile phone and play!!!

Um do the smart thing! Google a package for windows that installs chinese text for notepad. Search and stuff get the right text form and then your set to translate chinese! After that translate the frikin dragonlance rpg by those chinese dudes!

It means that that you have to translate the class files instead.so you should extract and open all class files and translate the ones that are in foreign language.

... tried translating some but i failed :surrender: i noticed that some of the games esp gameloft's had their lang files converted to .png files (image files to be exact) so to really translate you need someone who can translated the word for you and rebuild the .png to a new image file..... its like you making your own game ^^

the game u attached does not have it's text stored in the class files but in the other files inside the jar whose type is not identified so i have no idea.
But in general it seems u can translate jar games whose text is in the class files with the halo u uploaded.

Just open the program and choose file->open jarand locate the jar u want to translate.it should appear like this:

Hi everyone, i managed to translate Warcraft III to english, it's not the best translation but i'm still working on it.
First of all i want to tell you it wasn't easy, my eyes hurt :(
But it seems that i can translate almost every game from any language to any language. So all i'm asking for is a little donation through paypal, so i can continue translating games, for every small donation i will translate a game.

All You need is:
1. Get JDK, JRE or upgrade Firefox with Java(TM) platform SE add-on/plugin from Firefox homepage (that worked for me).
2. Open ce2.23 folder.
3. Double click ce.jar

That's all. Program launched.:rolleyes:

i think the problem may be that the images need to be bufferedimage png for them to work, i cant seem to figure how to buffer a png but ill keep looking.

there ya go, its a .7z file hope thats ok,
the pictues in (P Files original) are what they say the original files that work with the game the files in (PNG Files exported from p files not edited) do not need to be edited but i might touch them up abit. and the folder called (PNG Files edited) the four images there i think need to be made into bufferdimage files, these are the files i have edited, thank you in advance i really want to finnish this so i can rest haha.....:devil:

the hard bit is with reading the letters and translating it.

just edit it in paint or photoshop and then save it with the same extension and name back into the jar file in the same place and it should work, pictures i can see you need to edit are (port1.png - port2.png - port3.png) ive edited the cover here as an example, just rename it and replace the file cover.png in the jar file. hope this helps, my phone is 176x220 so i cant play the game :(.

also some pictures cant be edited in paint and use java script to recompile after editing, something im trying to do right now, photoshop is the best choice for me cus its got good fonts to replace the old ones and i use google translate to find the words. i take it that u have used mobitrans or some other app to edit text in .class files?

Hi guys! new member here. I just started to translate this chinese rpg game called The Legend of Legendary Sword(not sure of the translation). I tried using Halo but I keep getting an error "Get classes failed" when I open the edited .jar file using Kemulator so I switched to ClassEditor.

My question is, (1)when using ClassEditor, in the Class Pool tab, are the Utf8 type the ones to be translated? because some of them have an equivalent value(chinese texts) and they can be modified. (2)Do I need only to focus on the Class Pool tab? or are there anything I need to change other than the ones in the Class Pool tab? (3) After I finished translating, how do I put the translated .class files back to the .jar file?:whee:

I'm stuck as to what to do with this files "res0, res1,....res29", they don't have a file extension and when I look upon their properties, they are just files. I think the dialogue are stored in those files because I cannot see them in ClassEditor and I've translated all of those that are in mandarin in ClassEditor. By the way I'm translating a game called Saint Sword Saga(almost complete. the dialogue, item description, and others are still in mandarin but the menu, character names, name of maps, etc. are in english).

Yep. We needed the chinese java games translation. You know... Can't use mobitrans. Since they're not any of gameloft publisher. I think, we just have to "hack" the .class file in the .jar.

javatrans will not work. But you need hexeditor. There's a lot of software for this. Most them HexeditorNEO is better but kinda slow while saving files(class/not defined). Again, you can open it by inclasstranslator too. But one more Javatrans(mod by Algoris) is better than Javatrans to translate gameloft games. Still there will be some bugs on it.
